The NASA has announced new ambitious plans regarding future missions to the Moon and Mars, outlining a long-term strategy for space exploration.

During a recent event, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman revealed that the construction of a permanent base on the Moon will not happen overnight but is expected to be completed within the next seven years.

He stated that NASA plans to invest around $20 billion in building the lunar base, which will be developed through dozens of missions over time.

Isaacman also announced a major initiative involving the development of a nuclear-powered spacecraft intended for Mars exploration, with a target launch date set for 2028.

As part of its updated strategy, NASA has decided to cancel plans for building a space station in the Moon’s orbit, shifting focus toward surface-based operations instead.

He highlighted growing competition in space exploration, noting that China is rapidly advancing and aims to challenge US dominance in space.

The NASA chief added that once the spacecraft reaches Mars, it will deploy helicopters to explore the planet and uncover its hidden secrets.

However, he acknowledged delays in returning astronauts to the Moon, stating that SpaceX has not yet completed the lunar landers required for the mission.
